Prior to entering the Ajax improvement framework, Van Axel Dongen, an Almere local, played youth football with Zeeburgia and OSV Amsterdam. He signed his first professional contract with the team in September 2020. Kian Fitz-Jim assisted Van Axel Dongen, who scored just before halftime. In the 62nd minute, Nordin Musampa took his place.

Van Axel Dongen was awarded the Abdelhak Nouri trophy as the Ajax junior player of the year for the 2020–21 season.

The top target for Manchester United

Ten Hag left the Dutch powerhouses last year to join United, but he used his time there to his advantage in the transfer window. In the summer, United spent more than £140 million to acquire Ajax players Antony and Lisandro Martinez, and they have expressed interest in returning to Amsterdam this year to acquire additional players.
